Dentures Q & A

Why do I need dentures?

If some or all of your teeth are missing due to gum disease, tooth decay, or traumatic injury, you may need dentures. Dentures replace missing teeth so you can bite, chew, and speak properly, and they prevent remaining teeth from shifting.

Missing teeth can also make your facial skin sag, and your cheeks look hollow. Even a few missing teeth can change your appearance. Dentures can restore the shape of your mouth and teeth, and help you feel more confident about the way you look and speak.

What are the different types of dentures?

Tavory Family Dentistry’s expertly trained team provides a variety of treatment solutions for women and men of all ages. From the preliminary consultation to completed dentures, or denture repairs and denture relining, you can trust this expert team to deliver nothing but the best. You have multiple dental options to choose from, including:

  • Metal framework partial dentures
  • Acrylic partial dentures
  • Dental implants and crowns
  • Denture relines
  • Soft denture liners
  • Implant-supported dentures

Your denturist at Tavory Family Dentistry can make adjustments and changes along the way to ensure the ideal fit and most aesthetically pleasing finished product.

Should I get immediate dentures?

You might be a prime candidate for immediate dentures if you've lost your teeth as a result of illness, injury, or decay, and need full dentures. Immediate dentures are readily available, which means you don't have to suffer the inconvenience of not having teeth. Keep in mind, though, that immediate dentures do not have a "try on" period and can take some time to feel normal. They need to be regularly relined to ensure a continued, comfortable fit.

What are partial dentures?

The most common type of partial dentures has a metal framework. If you're a suitable candidate, The metal framework provides strong support and helps with chewing when you’re missing back teeth. Partial dentures with metal frames do not need dental adhesives to stay in place. They have clasps that securely anchor to existing teeth.

Acrylic partial dentures are less expensive than metal ones but don’t last as long. Acrylic partials are usually a temporary solution for missing front teeth while the dentist makes permanent partials or bridges.
